COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

To provide and maintain, for immediate and historical use by all concerned, conduits of accurate, useful and timely information. This information serves residents and staff, and helps interpret the Kendal experience to the Oberlin community at large.

Subcommittees:

 

Audio Announcements: To record the announcements for the next two days and the menu for the next day on an ordinary telephone answering machine for low-vision residents. The telephone number to hear the announcements is (440) 775-9868. (Marcia Deist)

 

Bulletin Board: To maintain the main bulletin board, keeping it current and informative to meet the needs of Kendal residents. (Fran Cooper, Anne Martin)

 

Library Bulletin Board: To keep the Views on the News bulletin board neat and current. (Beverly Fordyce)

 

Channel 27: to supply daily PowerPoint presentation for the electronic bulletin board and to prepare printouts for the audio announcement group on a daily basis. (Milton Ellis)

THE KENDALIGHT: to issue a monthly newsletter providing pertinent information for residents and detailing upcoming events and functions sponsored by residents, the KatO administration and outside groups using Kendal facilities. It also publicizes community events for which the Transportation Committee arranges the Kendal bus for residents. It is given to each resident, and is sent to priority list members and other interested parties. (Elizabeth Aldrich)

Phone Directory: To publish a yearly phone directory for the Kendal community. It has phone numbers, unit numbers with a map, and e-mail addresses of all residents. It also has key phone numbers of the Administration and Staff. (Nina Love).

Resident Photography Our purpose is to work for and on behalf of KORA by providing images of residents for residents and KAO.
OBJECTIVES:
(1) Photograph new residents for KORA welcoming bulletin board, the library, digital and print directories, Kendalight, KAO medical records, and Archives.
(2) The New Residents photos will be accessed from KAO files as needed for identification and remembrances.
(3) Photography Committee members will take event images of interest for Bulletin Board and use in Kendalight.
(4) Residents are required to sign permission release statements and may check any of the following:

  1. Internal use: resident publications, bulletin boards, event photos;
  2. Marketing use: Kendal at Oberlin advertising, print material, website, and social media;
  3. Marketing use: Kendal Corporation print and online use
  4. I do not grant permission for disclosure of photographs.

Posters: To make posters to inform residents of events occuring at Kendal and some trips away from Kendal organized by Kendal residents and open to Kendal residents. (Jean Slonneger)

 

Resident Archives: To facilitate residents’ compliance with Admissions’ request for information for those residents who wish to be included in the library’s archival record book Who’s Here, the Kendalight, and periodic Resident Biographies publications. To issue a complete Resident Biographies every five years. To distribute annual supplements with information on new residents. To maintain Who’s Here and In Memoriam books in the library. To photograph new residents for Who’s Here, the Kendalight, the Resident Biographies and the library’s bulletin board, the Welcome New Residents bulletin board and Kendal administration’s electronic medical records.
