RECYCLING GUIDELINES (2016)

 

PAPER:

Newspapers (all sections), magazines, phone books, junk mail, cardboard including cereal and similar boxes (flattened)

 

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD:

Flattened and put NEXT TO paper recycling bins

 

RECYCLABLE CONTAINERS (food, beverage, detergent):

Must be rinsed clean. Cans, glass, plastics #1-7, milk cartons and soup and juice boxes

 

COMPOSTABLES:

Biodegradable take-out food containers from Dining (e.g. cups, soup and "clam shell" containers) are to be rinsed then placed on the conveyor belt in the Langston Dining Room for composting.


REUSABLE:

Return to Langston for reuse:


FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS and LEDS(including compact):

In buckets in trash room (incandescent bulbs are trash)

 

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS (e.g. corrosives, flammables, toxics) and ELECTRONICS (e.g. computers, TVs, microwaves,cell phones):

Place on floor of trash room for appropriate disposal by Facility Services. Call them with questions and/or assistance with large items.

 

BATTERIES:

Rechargables to Facilities Services. All other batteries are trash.

 

PACKAGING MATERIAL: Bring to GINKO downtown:

Corrugated cardboard boxes, ‘peanuts’, bubble wrap, Styrofoam sheets. NOT: molded Styrofoam or air pillows.

 

ORAL CARE MATERIALS: Bring to Oberlin City Hall 85 S. Main Street

Used toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, floss containers and their packaging.
